With the jaw-dropping announcement by Trump's DOJ of a $1.776 BILLION “anti-weaponization” slush fund — to compensate MAGA allies who claim they’ve been unfairly persecuted by the federal government — America’s grifter-in-chief has managed to redefine “unprecedented,” setting himself far apart from the pack as the most brazenly corrupt individual to ever hold public office in the United States.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche — Donald's former personal criminal defense attorney — announced the creation of the audacious, taxpayer-funded slush fund as part of a “settlement” resolving the president’s patently absurd $10 BILLION lawsuit against the IRS over the leak of his tax returns by a government contractor during his first term in office.
Tell Congress to reject Trump's brazenly corrupt insurrection slush fund!
The president laughably claimed to know little about the specifics of the scheme, despite telegraphing for more than a year his desire to find a way to compensate so-called J6ers for their loyalty to him. Trump pardoned more than 1,500 insurrectionists on his second day back in office, including felons who violently attacked police officers and laid waste to the Capitol, and has taken to referring to the lot as patriots.
As of today, 33 of those "patriots" are facing other serious criminal charges — including child sex crimes, kidnapping, rape, weapons violations, and DUIs. Under the current framework laid out by Blanche, there is nothing stopping these reprobates from seeking “reparations” from the slush fund — at taxpayers’ expense, of course.
Democrats — and even some Republicans — are not taking news of the insurrection slush fund well. Sen. Elizabeth Warren called it “corruption on steroids,” while Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin called it a “racket designed to take $1.7 billion of taxpayer dollars out of the Treasury” and gift it to Trump’s “private militia of insurrectionists, rioters, and white supremacists.” GOP Senate Majority Leader John Thune was more muted in his disapproval, but admitted he was “not a big fan” of the deal. How brave.
This moment is without parallel in American history. Congress MUST rein in this rogue administration’s brazenly corrupt scheme to reward crooks and violent criminals with taxpayer dollars — all to help rewrite history and soothe Donald's fragile ego by justifying his thoroughly debunked claims of a stolen election. America’s legitimacy is on the line. The stakes could not be higher.
Tell Congress to reject Trump's brazenly corrupt insurrection slush fund!
