With fuel prices continuing to skyrocket thanks to his disastrous war with Iran, Donald Trump is clearly in full-blown panic mode, which is why he just waived sweeping sanctions against Russia in exchange for a massive shipment of diesel fuel in a desperate and unconscionable attempt to change the narrative before the upcoming midterm elections.
In doing so, however, the president has put millions of innocent Ukrainians in harm’s way and risked years of progress on the battlefield, where Ukraine has fought its Russian aggressors to a standstill in the worst fighting Europe has witnessed since World War II.

Waiving sanctions in exchange for Russian diesel fuel was a brazen gift to dictator Vladimir Putin. Even worse, Trump ordered the US military to throttle vital Starshield defense capabilities for Ukraine, exposing the besieged nation of nearly 40 million to deadly Russian drone strikes on the country’s power grid, military installations, and civilian targets alike.
Trump is telegraphing to Moscow that American pressure is negotiable and that, for the right price, Russian aggression will be tolerated and even rewarded.
Tell Trump to reinstate the sanctions Congress passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, restore full Starshield capabilities on the battlefield, and to stop blaming Ukraine for Russia’s refusal to make peace. Appeasement will not end Putin’s war against Ukraine. America’s credibility, Europe’s security, and the principle that borders can no longer be redrawn by force all depend on whether the United States stands firm at this most critical juncture.
