What's happening right now to American democracy isn't just partisan politics — it's a brazen heist in plain sight. And in the wake of the Supreme Court’s heinous decision to gut the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the stakes could not be higher.
Earlier this year, Donald Trump personally ordered Texas Republicans to redraw congressional maps mid-decade to carve out five additional Republican-leaning seats, while Ron DeSantis just rammed through a new Florida map that will almost certainly give Republicans 24 of the state's 28 congressional seats — despite a voter-approved state constitutional amendment literally banning partisan gerrymandering. What’s worse, only 4 in 10 Floridians are registered Republicans!

Missouri, North Carolina, and Utah have predictably joined the GOP pile-on, all part of a coordinated national effort to manipulate the 2026 midterms and insulate Trump, whose approval rating is in the gutter, from the accountability that free and fair elections are supposed to provide. This isn't governing — it's a democracy-busting blueprint for permanent one-party rule by right-wing extremists absolutely terrified of a fair fight.
Say no to partisan gerrymandering!
Democrats in California and Virginia have been forced to respond in kind — not because they want a redistricting arms race, but because the alternative is unilateral disarmament while Trump’s cronies rig the game so only they can ever win.
The only real, long-term solution is a federal law requiring uniform, nonpartisan redistricting standards that every state is legally required to follow — because right now, state lawmakers acting in good faith are being thoroughly outmaneuvered by authoritarian zealots acting in very bad faith, and the real losers are the American people.
