New evidence shows that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito LIED in his ruling to gut the Voting Rights Act, using misleading evidence from the Trump administration claiming that racism is somehow officially over!
A new analysis by The Guardian reveals that MAGA Justice Alito, whose wife flew January 6th flags outside their home, copied "almost verbatim" a filing from the Trump administration erroneously claiming that "the kind of discrimination that once made the Voting Rights Act necessary no longer exists."
"Vast social change has occurred throughout the country and particularly in the South, where many Section 2 suits arise," Alito wrote in a 6-3 majority opinion in the case, which concerned Louisiana’s congressional map. "Black voters now participate in elections at similar rates as the rest of the electorate, even turning out at higher rates than white voters in two of the five most recent Presidential elections nationwide and in Louisiana."
We all know that isn’t true, and, furthermore, voter turnout alone has no correlation to the presence or absence of discrimination.
Impeach Justice Alito!
As The Guardian noted, The Trump DOJ study that "produced" this "evidence" relied on "a statistical methodology that is not preferred by experts in determining statewide voter turnout,” meaning they cooked the numbers to get what they wanted: data that could be used to justify stripping political power away from Black communities and instituting Jim Crow 2.0.
Following the high court's ruling, Republican lawmakers began doing just that, redrawing districts in Tennessee, Alabama, and Louisiana to dilute the power of Black votes and enact one-party Republican rule. Because nothing matters to today's GOP except the pursuit of power and the punishment of nonwhite minorities.
"Lying in a legal briefing would get you disbarred as a regular lawyer. But when you’re an unelected, lifetime appointee with powers to write decisions that completely undo & remake the Constitution, the decision gets to stand & you get to keep your lifetime position. Outrageous!" raged civil rights lawyer Scott Hechinger on Twitter.
We cannot allow this to injustice to stand. Samuel Alito must be removed from office immediately.
Impeach Justice Samuel Alito!
