An attack on the CLCPA is an attack on working families. I'm a constituent, and I'm writing because I'm concerned about efforts to delay or weaken New York's climate law during this year's budget negotiations. Specifically, I urge you to protect the full implementation of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act and move forward with the Clean Air Initiative. Recent cost claims circulating from the Governor’s administration rely on a worst case that does not reflect how the theClean Air Initiative is designed to work. The state is failing to account for the billions of dollars in savings and direct rebates that would help working and middle-class New Yorkers manage rising energy bills. Independent analysis shows that the proposed Clean Air Initiative could:– Move $3 billion off utility bills– Deliver approximately $270 in annual rebates to nearly 6.5 million New York households– Generate $57.4 billion over the next decade to reinvest in New York's communities– Create thousands of good-paying, union jobs while cutting harmful pollution At a time when families in our district are feeling the burden of high energy costs, we need solutions that lower bills and deliver relief to families. New York has long been a national climate leader. I urge you to reject efforts to stall implementation, stand up to misinformation, and ensure the Climate Leadership and Community Protect Act is fully implemented.
