Tell Congress to pass the AI Data Center Moratorium Act!
The Trump administration has made it a national priority to fast-track AI data center construction with zero federal safeguards in place while communities are left to fight back alone. At least 188 local opposition groups are now active across 40 states, and community opposition has already blocked $18 billion and delayed $46 billion in U.S. data center projects since mid-2024.

Some states have moved to strip local governments of their zoning and regulatory authority over data centers entirely, silencing the only voices that had any power to begin with.
Meanwhile, AI’s share of global water consumption is projected to double by 2030, farmland is being bulldozed, electric bills are climbing, and the industry keeps building. Congress has had every opportunity to act and has chosen not to.
The Artificial Intelligence Data Center Moratorium Act (S.4214) is the first serious federal attempt to pump the brakes before the damage becomes irreversible. We need Congress to pass it now!
